Ancient Ojime Bead - Carved Bone

The Ojime Bead originated in Japan. It is used as a cord tightener to fasten inro cases that would be items worn on traditional kimonos. Dates back to the Edo period ( 1603-1868)
This Ojime bead is Handcarved Bone with Two Birds on each side of its round surface. The center of the bead is brass. The bead measures 1" in diameter.
